National Day 2007 - Singapore's 42nd Birthday
It has been sometime that I last blogged!! Have been really busy with work. But this is a GOOD sign!!! I love to work! Feel good to be busy, have work to do, feel useful again……Though there is alots of things to be done, I will learn along the way and take it with my stride. Today is 10th August, the day after our National Day. National Day is a joyous day for all Singaporeans. It commemorates the day that Singapore gains her independence since 1965. In another words, it is a holiday- no work for all Singaporeans!! Both my hubby, Yingwei and myself had a great day yesterday! The weather was really cooling. It rained very heavily in the early morning hours. Since the weather was fantastic, we lazed on the bed, refusing to wake up till the drums in our stomachs really “coerced” us to leave the bed. We went bukit timah, our usual haunt for roti prata for breakfast. The pratas were not as good as before. Perhaps, there was a change in the management. Anyway, we both like the quiet yet busy atmosphere there. Lots of cars parked there for breakfast though it was a public holiday. In the afternoon, we went to watch 不能说的秘密, a show by Jay Chou (a.k.a 周杰伦) 自拍自导自演的。Frankly, I did not expect to watch this show at all. In the first place, I dun even know that he has shot a show by himself!!! If not becoz my hubby wants to watch this show, I dun think I would even know this show. We met Jeff & Minyun @ Plaza Sing for lunch first before we caught the show @ 4+pm together. The show was in fact quite good. I shall not mention on his acting since I didn’t catch his earlier shows at all. The plot of this show is rather unique. Focus is more on the beauty of piano, other than the lovely-dovey love story between him + his special girl, 路小雨。The ending of the show was really unexpected. Great! I like such ending. Do go and catch his show if you like shows with unexpected endings! After the show, Jeff & Minyun left for a family gathering while Yingwei & myself went to join the LARGE CROWD @ Marina around. We walked from PS to Esplanade to get a GOOD spot to catch the fireworks. It was really crowded. Lots and lots of people were already there. Nevertheless, we got ourselves a good spot. While people @ the floating platform were immersed in good performance and songs, we hardly can hear any clear music. Everyone was like standing there to wait for the fireworks. As the sky became darker and darker, we were more and more thrilled to see the fireworks. There were a few times of false alarms along the wait. The stage lights were off as there were times of small fireworks. Finally around 8.10pm, we saw the most spectacular fireworks since the time we went for the national day rehearsal in 2002. There were few new designs. Both Yingwei & myself particularly like the two ones with “popping” flowers as well as “falling stars”. Really impressed and thrilled! We went for a dinner @ Clarke Quay before heading home by bus 190. It has been a long time that we last took a public transport since we gotten our baby “mazda 3 SP” this feb. We didn’t drive at all coz we were too lazy to drive. Parking will be a problem too. It was a great ride from Clarke Quay back to Bukit Panjang though I fell asleep soon after I boarded the bus. During our courtship days, we used to take slow walks around Boat Quay and Clarke Quay areas. Though we are married now, we will make an effort to go there to enjoy the sweet moments as before. I enjoy such walks & talks – no need to spend a lot and talking needs no effort. I just have lots of things to say to him, despite 11 years of getting together. Hee! Hee! Mi no shy one…I appreciate him spending quality time with me. Thank you, Yingwei! You are the Best! :)
